　　If your car owner's manual states that the transmission fluid is not required to be changed for life, I urge you to quickly close the manual, as the term "for life" may be the most successful wordplay in the automotive industry.

　　廠家所謂的終身指的是車輛的設計，壽命周期通常是10年或24萬公里左右，而不是你想的開到報廢。而且這10年24萬公里也是有門檻的。

　　The so-called "lifelong" guarantee by the manufacturer refers to the design and lifespan of the vehicle, which is typically around 10 years or 240,000 kilometers, not to the extent of driving it until it's scrapped. Furthermore, there are thresholds for these 10 years and 240,000 kilometers.

　　工程師的真實邏輯是在理想工況下，油液的理論壽命確實很長，但理想工況不包括你每天要面對的擁堵，高溫和高負荷以及金屬正常磨損所產生的碎屑。

　　The true logic of engineers is that under ideal operating conditions, the theoretical lifespan of oil is indeed very long. However, ideal operating conditions do not include the congestion, high temperatures, and high loads you face every day, as well as the debris generated by normal metal wear and tear.

　　這些都在默默改變終身的定義，更重要的是它背后有個潛臺詞，在廠家的保修期內它大概率不會因為油液問題而壞。

　　All of these are silently changing the definition of "lifelong". More importantly, there is an underlying message behind it: during the manufacturer's warranty period, it is highly unlikely to break down due to oil issues.

　　但保修期基本都在10萬公里或3年內出了保修期，那就是你和維修廠之間的事了。

　　However, once the warranty period, which is typically within 100,000 kilometers or 3 years, has expired, it becomes a matter between you and the repair shop.

　　如果你沒在所謂的理想狀態下或保修期內用車，那長期不換油會導致兩個必然的結果;

　　油液會劣化。因為變速箱的工作溫度可達到90到120攝氏度，長期高溫下油液的清潔、潤滑和散熱性能就會衰減，衰減成劣化油液就會形成油泥。油泥會堵塞閥體，這就是換擋頓挫沖擊的主要原因。

　　If you don't use your vehicle under the so-called ideal conditions or within the warranty period, long-term failure to change the oil will lead to two inevitable outcomes: The oil will deteriorate. Because the operating temperature of the transmission can reach 90 to 120 degrees Celsius, the cleaning, lubricating, and heat dissipation properties of the oil will deteriorate under long-term high temperatures. The deteriorated oil will form oil sludge. Oil sludge can block the valve body, which is the main cause of shift shock and impact.

　　磨損加劇變速箱只要工作齒輪和離合器片之間就會產生極其細微的金屬碎屑，磨損下來的金屬碎屑混在油里，就像砂紙一樣不停的摩擦離合器和齒輪。

　　As the wear intensifies, extremely fine metal debris will be generated between the working gear and the clutch plate of the gearbox. The metal debris that has worn off mixes with the oil, acting like sandpaper and constantly rubbing against the clutch and gears.

　　這也是變速箱大修的主要原因。一次大修變速箱的費用至少是換油費用的十倍，你省下的幾百塊錢油錢都是在給未來上萬塊的維修費添磚加瓦。

　　This is also the primary reason for overhauling the gearbox. The cost of overhauling a gearbox is at least ten times the cost of changing the oil. The few hundred dollars you save on oil money are just building blocks for tens of thousands of dollars in future maintenance costs.

　　那到底該怎么對待變速箱油呢？記住這三條：

　　第一看類型，CVT變速箱最嬌貴，建議6到8萬公里，嚴格更換AT或DCT變速箱。建議8到10萬公里檢查或更換。

　　So how should we treat transmission fluid? Remember these three points: First, consider the type. CVT transmissions are the most delicate, and it is recommended to strictly replace them after 60,000 to 80,000 kilometers. For AT or DCT transmissions, it is recommended to inspect or replace them after 80,000 to 100,000 kilometers.

　　第二一定要用機器循環換油，盡可能把舊油和雜質置換干凈，而不是簡單的重力放油。因為換油的目的主要是清理雜質。

　　Secondly, it is essential to use a machine for circulating oil change, ensuring that the old oil and impurities are fully replaced, rather than simply draining the oil by gravity. The primary purpose of oil change is to remove impurities.

　　第三務必使用廠家認證的原廠或同等標準油液型號不對，會損傷閥體。有的車主說換了變速箱油，感覺換擋頓挫，那是因為加了劣質油或修理廠操作不當。

　　Thirdly, it is imperative to use the original or equivalent standard oil certified by the manufacturer. Using the wrong oil model can damage the valve body. Some car owners complain that after changing the transmission fluid, the gear shifting feels jerky. This is due to the use of inferior oil or improper operation by the repair shop.

　　說到底汽車廠家所說的終身免維護，是在路況完美、溫度恒定的實驗室世界里。而我們每天面對的是堵車的煩躁，是塵土飛揚的工地，是夏天暴曬，冬天嚴寒的真實街道。

　　Ultimately, the "lifelong maintenance-free" claim made by car manufacturers is only valid in a laboratory setting with perfect road conditions and constant temperature. However, we face the daily hassles of traffic jams, dusty construction sites, and the realities of streets exposed to the scorching sun in summer and the bitter cold in winter.

　　所以真正懂車的人，不是盲目迷信手冊，也不是胡亂焦慮，而是在理想和現實中掌握好那個養護的分寸。

　　Therefore, those who truly understand cars do not blindly rely on manuals or worry unnecessarily. Instead, they strike a balance between their ideals and reality when it comes to maintenance.
